Tax Deadlines

Tax Dates to Remember

Personal Tax Deadlines:
February 28th: RRSP deadline for contributing to your Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) for the tax filing year.
April 30th: Deadline for most individuals to file their personal income tax returns for the previous tax year.
June 15th: Deadline for self-employed individuals and their spouses or common-law partners to file their personal income tax returns. However, any taxes owed are still due by April 30th.
Note: If the deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, it typically extends to the next business day.
Business Tax Deadlines:
The deadline for filing corporate tax returns (T2) can vary depending on the corporation's fiscal year-end. It is typically due six months after the end of the corporation's fiscal year.
Payroll Deadlines:
Monthly Remittance: Employers are generally required to remit source deductions (e.g., income tax, Canada Pension Plan (CPP) contributions, and Employment Insurance (EI) premiums) to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on or before the 15th day of the following month.
Annual Reporting: Employers are required to file annual information returns (e.g., T4 slips for employees) with the CRA by the last day of February following the calendar year to which the information relates. However, if the due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or a public holiday, it is extended to the next business day.
HST Filing Deadline:
There are 2 types of HST Filing deadlines:
Quarterly remitters
Last day of the month following the end of the reporting quarter.
If your quarter ends March 31st, the filing deadline is April 30th.
Annual remitters
Filing and remittance deadline is 3 months after the fiscal year-end of the corporation.
If your corporation has a year-end on June 30th, then your filing and remittance deadline is September 30th.
